Maine's Historic Bold Coast is a time capsule of American History. Discover this area of austere beauty dotted with rural towns largely intact from the 19th century. With pristine coastlines and cavernous forests, the region reflects a rich historic legacy of cultures beginning with Maine's first inhabitants the Wabanaki People, to French, British and Colonial settlements, to more recent arrivals and summer residents seeking retreat and relaxation.

Each museum and site along Maine's Historic Bold Coast features objects, images and stories of Maine's Native Americans, lumber barons, Revolutionary War veterans, renowned artists and public figures. All the participating museums have important collections which are housed in architecturally significant structures, ranging in age and style from the Revolutionary War to the Federal Period and the Victorian Era.

Each museum associated with Maine's Historic Bold Coast offers unique, enriching experiences for every visitor.
